USAGE & CARE GUIDE

Initial Unboxing & Natural Aroma: Genuine Chinese lacquerware is finished with 100% natural plant-based tree sap. If you notice a subtle botanical lacquer aroma upon opening the sealed presentation box, please rest assured that it is non-toxic, food-safe, and natural. Simply place the cup in a cool, well-ventilated, shaded area for a few days, and the scent will naturally dissipate.

Daily Tea Enjoyment: Natural raw lacquer cured on a solid zelkova wood core possesses outstanding natural resistance to heat, moisture, and mild acids. It is ideal for enjoying hot teas including green, oolong, black, and pu-erh. To protect the lacquer finish, never microwave, refrigerate, or place the cup in a conventional oven. Avoid direct contact with boiling water baths or prolonged exposure to direct intense sunlight.

Gentle Cleaning: Always hand wash your cup gently after use with lukewarm water and a soft cotton cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Mild, diluted dish soap may be used if needed. Do not use dishwashers, harsh alkaline detergents, steel wool, or stiff scrubbing brushes, as these will scratch the push-polished surface.

Drying & Patina Care: After washing, wipe dry promptly with a soft towel and store in a clean, dry location. Lacquer is a living material; with continuous tea appreciation and mindful daily handling, the cup will naturally mature into an even richer, deeper, and more lustrous heirloom patina over time.

HANDMADE VARIATIONS & ARTISAN AUTHENTICITY

Each teacup is an individual work of art, hand-shaped from solid zelkova wood and hand-lacquered across more than thirty individual steps over several months. Because every piece is crafted entirely by hand using natural materials, slight nuances in wood grain texture, the flowing swirl patterns of Xi Pi lacquer, color shading, and minor measurement tolerances (within 1–2 mm) naturally occur. Rather than flaws, these subtle variations are the hallmarks of authentic handcrafted heritage art, ensuring that no two cups in the world are completely identical.
